Wedding favors that your guests will want to keep or eat instead of throw in the trash? The goal is the thank you your guests to attend the wedding and give them something unique to remember by.
The words for the wedding theme were earthy, natural , eco-friendly and healthy all of these are very close to my heart as well. So the bride choose the most natural wedding favors – all from scratch Hungarian gingerbread cookie with beautiful simple white royal icing, with no artificial colors added.
The wedding favors were packed in separate bags and finished with a matching twine the same which was used all around the wedding.
The recipe of the gingerbread I use is easy, but takes about 1-2 days to make the dough ready. Because the dough includes honey ( instead of the traditional molasses ) it needs to rest at least 1 night to get the elasticity and smoothness. It is really amazing to see the difference in a 2 days old dough and a 4-5 days old gingerbread dough. The honey works with the gluten in a fabulous way to make the dough more plastic and elastic. ( I have to learn more about the chemistry behind the recipe, but need to find a food chemist for that I guess)
