Are you one of those many people who admire decorated cookies, but afraid to try it yourself?
This is what you need to make decorated cookies!
Don’t be! It is easier than you think! At least the beginning is not so difficult.
Decorated cookies are great gifts for teachers, friends, and everybody with sweet tooth. It is also a great project with your kids on a rainy day, or homemade present for grandma.
First, you need a good recipe for making decorated cookies!
It can be shortbread, sugar cookie or gingerbread. I have tried a lot of different recipes before I settled on my own sugar cookie recipe.

So you made your first batch of cookie. Now it is time to find a great icing recipe. Here are a couple of links which I have tried.
Royal Icing Recipe
There are basically two different ways to make royal icing.
The traditional way is the egg white + confectioner sugar, the other uses Meringue Powder instead of egg white. You can buy Meringue Powder in craftshops, like Michael’s, Jo-Ann, and some Walmart stores carries it as well.

The pictures show how nicely you can design with simple white icing. If you bake a chocolate cookie recipe, you will have a very nice deep dark brown cookie and you can start decorating them with simple white icing. Just plain white icing on dark dough will make a great impression.
